As Cheryl Moore has progressed through her 30+ year career in teaching and nursing, she discovered that it is truly rewarding to watch students as they progress in their knowledge and skills. She enjoys being a part of the student’s learning experience especially when she witnesses the light bulb go off when they “get it.”

According to Moore, nursing is an evolving profession with new opportunities opening in all areas of healthcare.

“The associate degree nursing (ADN) can be a jumping off point to begin a nursing career but also gives students the opportunity to go forward to complete a bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees while working as a registered nurse and gaining clinical experience,” said Moore.

Focusing on diverse learning styles, Moore believes in promoting student success by understanding how the students learn as individuals and group settings. She also implements learning through simulation to provide students an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills in a patient-safe environment.

Moore loves to spend time outdoors hiking, kayaking and swimming at her cabin. She enjoys quiet time with a cup of tea and a good book or movie. She is a quilter and a baker/cook. Finally, Moore enjoys cuddling with her Boston terrier, Gracie, to relax after a long day.

"I want new nurses to be prepared to care for my generation in the same way that my generation of nurses have cared for patients." — Cheryl Moore
