Jean Baker is a Student Success Center instructor at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College’s New Richmond campus.
Before coming to WITC, Jean served as a long-term substitute teacher and later went to work for Northwest Airlines, where she taught programming in different languages and ran a help desk. She has also been employed at the Courage Center in Stillwater, Minn., where she helped people with traumatic brain injuries re-learn to read and write. Jean has also performed volunteer work with East Metro Women's Council tutoring homeless people working toward their GED.
In her free time, Jean enjoys doing a variety of needlework such as knitting, crocheting, macramé, Swedish weaving and needlepoint. She also likes to quilt and create fuzzy animals from fabric. In the summer she enjoys kayaking.
"I believe that everyone is capable of learning – just at different rates and different ways. There is no one way to learn, and if a concept is not grasped one way, I need to find another way to reach the student." — Jean Baker
