Tom Pedersen is an Accounting, Finance, and Business Management Instructor at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College's New Richmond campus.
Tom's field experiences include working for a large certified public accounting firm, large to medium corporations and small family-owned businesses. These provide Tom the ability to relate textbook jargon and theory to what students are likely to see in the real world.
At WITC Tom:
- Serves as advisor to the Business Professionals of America student organization. The New Richmond club earned ten top-10 performances (including four of the top-10 in Advanced Accounting) in the 2010 BPA National Conference in Anaheim, CA
- Introduced the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program which, through the Income Tax Preparation course, prepares free tax returns for hundreds of low-income people.
- Serves as an elected member of the Wisconsin Teachers Retirement Board.
- Chairs the Business Management Program Review, a cross-campus board overseeing curriculum improvements.
In his free time, Tom is an avid runner. He enjoys the outdoors, boating, and traveling.
