She has spent the majority of her 30 years as a registered nurse working in the maternal and child health field. Cate has been a staff nurse and charge nurse in neonatal intensive care and labor and delivery. As a board-certified lactation consultant, she created The Breastfeeding Clinic at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn., which is now staffed by three lactation consultants and sees patients six days a week.

In addition, Cate has research interest in: the relationship of science grades to academic and professional success in nurse education, the prediction of nursing student academic and professional success based on program outcomes, and timely remediation of at-risk nursing students.

In her free time, Cate enjoys golf, yoga, working with stained glass and reading.

Cate Edlebeck, WITC Superior Nursing - Associate Degree Instructor

"I have so enjoyed my career working in direct care nursing that I wanted to be a part of the next generation of caregivers. I find nursing to be a career that requires one to maintain currency in the field. The career opportunities are unlimited, especially if the AD nurse chooses to become a lifelong learner."
