Rita O’Connell is a general studies instructor at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College’s Superior campus. She teaches in the Natural Science and Chemistry programs.
Rita’s work experience has provided her with an excellent background in the application of sciences and has given her numerous examples for students, as she presents knowledge for the real world.
She enjoys knitting and designing her own patterns. Rita also likes reading mysteries and science fiction, living in the country, vegetable and flower gardening, woodcutting and even the snowblowing of a long driveway.
"I love knowledge, and I love passing it on. I’ve done it all my life in less formal ways, but didn’t teach full-time until recently. I have been very surprised to discover that it takes a lot more work to teach than any of my other jobs required – I work way more than 40 hours a week to prepare, teach, grade and complete follow-up tasks for my classes. I really love the in-classroom interaction with the students." — Rita O’Connell
