Each technical college district determines its own board member responsibilities. Generally, the duties of district board members are to:

Many opportunities exist for greater professional development. Attending quarterly meetings of the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association can broaden a Board member's understanding of the technical college system in order to see the "big picture." In addition, attendance at conferences of the Association of Community College Trustees will give Board members a national perspective.
