Driver Simulation: Challenges of Safe Driving

Students attending this class will, as a group, spend three hours in the classroom reviewing the “Challenges of Safe Driving”. They will then be broken into groups of two and scheduled into a one hour session in WITC’s driving simulator. The time in the simulator will allow the student to experience situations and hazards in a controlled environment that, hopefully, will never be encountered when behind the wheel. Pre-requisite: Entry Level Driver/Operator or EVOC.

 

Driver/Operator for EMS    
Entry Level Driver Operator Part I (Driving) The objective of this course is to train an individual to safely drive fire department apparatus to and from the emergency scene. This course is designed to satisfy the needs of fire departments who need to have new members drive and operate a fire apparatus but do not have the need for the entire state certification process. This course does NOT contain theory or detailed explanations.  
Entry Level Driver Operator Part II (Pump Operation) The main objective of this course is to provide a new driver/operator with the knowledge and information needed to operate a fire pump in a basic mode on the fireground. The student will receive instruction on the parts of a fire pump and their operation. He/she should develop a working knowledge of the different components located on a pump panel and be able to explain and properly work each component. (PREREQUISITE: 503-405 Entry-Level Driver/Operator - Part I.)  
Entry Level Driver Operator Part III (Aerial) The main objective of this course is to provide a new driver/operator with the knowledge and information needed to operate an aerial apparatus on the fireground. (PREREQUISITE: Entry-Level Driver/Operator - Part 1 and Part 2.)
