While line of duty deaths related to fire and emergency scene trauma have declined over the past decade, injuries due to motor vehicle crashes have been on the rise and are now the leading source of traumatic death and injury to emergency responders. This course covers both local and national recommendations on responder safety. The presentation includes numerous video clips of crashes and close calls, illustrating the hazards of highway operations. The class is intended to provide a common sense approach to highway incident response. This class is well suited for anyone responding to fire, medical, or law enforcement calls on the highways.
