WITC Students Make Strong Showing at BPA Leadership Conference
Students from WITC’s Ashland, New Richmond and Rice Lake
campuses took part in the Business Professionals of America Spring Leadership
Conference, which took place Feb. 20 - 22, in Lake Geneva, Wis.
The mission of Business Professionals of America is to
contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement
of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
WITC-Ashland students claimed seven first-place awards. Students
from WITC’s New Richmond campus earned four first-place awards and WITC-Rice
Lake took home one first-place prize.
"Our WITC students did very well in competition," Larry Gee,
divisional dean of business and lead dean of WITC-New Richmond, says. "In fact,
the top places in a couple events were swept by WITC. In addition, the advisors
all took an active role in proctoring exams, grading, advisors meetings,
shuffling students from hotel to campus, and just making sure it was a good
experience for everyone."
