WITC Foundation collects more than $1,700 for Haiti relief efforts
(3/3/10): Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College’s
Foundation recently collected $1,731.40 in donations from staff and students to
assist the relief efforts in Haiti.
“We were very pleased with the tremendous response we
received from our students and staff,” said Craig Fowler, WITC vice president,
Continuing Education; executive director, Foundation; Rice Lake campus
administrator. “This initiative helped to remind all of us here at WITC of the
basic needs that others have throughout the world.”
This donation will be sent to the Doctors Without
Borders organization, which will use these funds to help continue to the
work they are doing in Haiti. In addition to the humanitarian services provided,
this organization consistently receives high ratings by independent watchdog
organizations.
“Doctors Without Borders is an outstanding organization,
and we have heard firsthand from volunteers in Haiti about the impact they are
making in the relief efforts there,” Fowler said.
Jeff Southern, a retired WITC employee, has spent many
weeks in Haiti and was there when the earthquake hit. During the devastation,
Southern worked closely with the Doctors Without Borders organization and
wholeheartedly endorsed it for this donation.
