WITC-New Richmond BPA students first in national competition
The Windy City was filled with WITC winners in late-April when four New Richmond
students joined with students from other WITC campuses to attend the BPA
(Business Professionals of America) National Leadership Conference in Chicago.
Mager, Woodville, took first place in the nation in Payroll Accounting and
fourth place in Advanced Accounting and Federal Income Tax Accounting. Allison
Schilling, New Richmond, placed seventh in Banking and Finance.
Richmond chapter members who participated in the national conference include
Ashley Pray and Deanna Driese, both of Somerset. They were accompanied by
chapter advisor and WITC instructor Kevin Salmon.
Collegewide, WITC had more than 20 students finish in the nationís top 20 out of
more than 200 participants in multiple events.
BPA, an on-campus organization, promotes business careers through activities,
seminars, and competitions. Students compete in business activities and network
locally, statewide, and nationally to build and reinforce their skills.
