Love Light donations rise

Alumni Association member Roxanne Lusua and Steve Bitzer, WITC-Ashland campus administrator, read the names of honored loved ones during the 22nd annual Love Lights.

(12/6/12): The 22nd annual Love Lights was a glowing success. Sponsored by the WITC-Ashland Alumni Association, Love Lights helps to raise scholarship funds for Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College students. Members of the community purchased 527 bulbs to honor living or deceased loved ones, military personnel and even pets. The WITC-Ashland Alumni Association raised $2,635 – a $355 increase from last year – to be used for scholarships for WITC students.

“During each of its 22 years, Love Lights has grown,” said Robyn Lulich, college advancement associate. “For some families, Love Lights has become part of their holiday traditions. It’s a great way to honor a loved one and support a worthy cause.”

For the last 22 years, the WITC-Ashland Alumni Association has sponsored Love Lights, an event that raised funds for scholarships while honoring loved ones. Lights are sold to honor those who are deceased, living or serving in the military. The Love Lights tree remains lit outside the Ashland Campus throughout the holiday season.

Those who braved the elements at the December 5 ceremony honored their loved ones through the reading of their names and photograph slide show. Attendees were also treated to a performance by the Saron Lutheran Hand Bell Choir and enjoyed holiday refreshments.
