WITC receives $884,362 Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant
Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College along with Department of Workforce
Development (DWD) Assistant Deputy Secretary David Anderson announced the
release of a large grant under the Wisconsin Fast Forward; Blueprint for
Prosperity initiative to fund two new sections of WITC’s high-demand
program at both the New Richmond and Rice Lake campuses. The funds will help to
bring down the wait lists for the program, getting more students through the
program faster, so they can be employed in open positions at regional
Governor Walker signed into law his "Blueprint for Prosperity" initiative in
March 2014. The legislation provides more than $35 million in additional funding
to expand the DWD-operated Wisconsin Fast Forward program. One focus is to
provide grants for the Wisconsin Technical College System to reduce waiting
lists for enrollment in programs and courses in high-demand fields.
approximately 1,600 employees, DWD works with employers to fill jobs, provides
training and employment services to workers, enforces workers’ rights, and
administers Unemployment Insurance and Worker’s Compensation programs.
