Ashland Students Construct Memorial for Veterans

(12/7/2015): In partnership with the Ashland High School students, WITC-Ashland students assisted in constructing a memorial for past Veterans of Foreign Wars members and the Mellen, Wis. area Veterans.

The memorial consists of over 400 dog tag replicas mounted on four upright columns that are set in a concrete base in the Veterans Park near the Mellen High School. The memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day.

The machining was provided by the machine tool open shop class at WITC-Ashland and the welding was provided by the welding class at the Ashland High School.

Members of the Copper Falls Post 2273 offered their thanks to the instructors and students of Ashland.
"We commend machine tool open shop Instructor Bryant Burns and the welding instructor, John Nuutinen, and their students who generously gave their time and knowledge that resulted in an attractive and professionally done memorial for area Veterans."
