WITC, OSHA renew alliance to train and protect workers from job hazards
(8/8/2016) The renewed alliance between WITC and OSHA will provide information, guidance and access to training resources to employers and workers within the WITC district. The alliance continues the joint effort to develop effective training programs for local industry, provide safety seminars and talks, encourage worker participation in employer safety and health programs, and share information on occupational safety and health laws.
"This collaboration is logical for two organizations that continually strive to assist our regional workforce. "We are proud to be a partner with OSHA since 2009, and we look forward to future opportunities that this agreement will fulfill."
The alliance will promote a culture of worker safety and health within the general industry, construction and agricultural industries, including small businesses and non-English and limited English speaking employees. WITC and OSHA will share information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, such as prevention of falls, struck-by, caught-in-between and electrical. In addition, the two organizations will work together to promote awareness of OSHA's rulemakings, enforcement initiatives and safety campaigns.
The alliance was first signed November 3, 2009. The renewed agreement remains in effect for five years.
