Any way you put the numbers together, accounting is an essential business foundation. Using financial statements, cost studies, and tax reports to communicate the health of a company is often called the "language of business." Accountants analyze and must then communicate these results to the stakeholders or customers.

Admission Requirements

Students in this program must:

Complete application form and submit with fee (fee waiver may apply if previously submitted)
Complete Accuplacer entrance assessment to determine placement (waiver may apply with acceptable alternative test scores and/or postsecondary degree completion)
Complete admissions interview with a WITC counselor (above requirements should be completed prior to interview)

Program Outcomes

Employers will expect you, as an Accounting graduate, to be able to:

Process financial transactions throughout the accounting cycle
Analyze financial and business information to support planning and decision making
Perform payroll preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks
Perform cost accounting preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks
Perform individual and/or organizational tax accounting preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks
Identify internal controls to reduce risk
Adapt accounting processes and principles to a government and/or not-for-profit environment
