Becoming an Architect

In Wisconsin and 12 other states, it is possible to become an architect without continuing on to a university. That's a route 5% of our students have chosen. Here's how it works compared to attending a university.

Attend a University?

4-year Bachelor of Architecture
2-year Master of Architecture
3-year Internship
ARE Tests

Total = 9 years of attendance

Attend a Technical College!

2-years Associate Degree
5-year Internship
ARE Tests

Total = 7 years of attendance

Transferring to a University

Some graduates have transferred to UW-Stout, UW-River Falls, UW-Milwaukee, University of Minnesota and Winona State as well as other colleges and universities. Talk to your instructor about options that might be right for you.
