Get Ready to Work

Turning a hail-damaged truck into a show-stopper.

Students have an opportunity to attend seminars and workshops on a variety of products and best practices. Many offer certificates of completion that are recognized by the automotive repair industry.

Detailing - Companies offering professional lines of specialty appearance products like Wizards Products, Meguiars, and 3M Professional Collision Repair provide detailing presentations for WITC students. Some presentations include a quiz and certificate of participation.

Plastic Repair - Industry experts conduct hands-on training for students using PLIOGRIP by Valvoline to demonstrate body shop repair. Active attendance in this workshop earns a certificate of completion.

Estimating Repair Costs - WITC uses Audatex software to train students in the process of estimating repair costs. This software is widely used in shops and insurance companies. Students earn an Estimating Certificate when they complete an online training module.

EPA 6H Rule - In early 2008, the EPA accepted a new standard to reduce public exposure to Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs). Body shops are required (by January 2011) to ensure all employees working with paint stripping and surface coating are certified. WITC students can earn a 5-year certificate by attending a class presentation followed by hands-on testing to prove they can adjust the equipment properly as well as be environmentally compliant.

Glass Replacement - Auto glass specialists provide an overview of automotive glass installation and safety inspection. WITC students have found employment in this area.
