Barber/Cosmetologist Program

All states require barbers, cosmetologists and other personal appearance workers to be licensed, with the exception of shampooers. Qualifications vary by state. In Wisconsin, graduates will have completed the 1800 hours required to take the Barber and Cosmetology Practitioner Licensing exam. 

The first part of the exam is written. The book exam is 100 questions from the textbook and includes questions about state law related to barber/cosmetology - must past the test with a score of 75 percent or better.

The second part of the exam involves five tasks including:

  1. Hair color and chemical release
  2. Permanent waving
  3. 90 degree hair cut
  4. Blow dry hair
  5. Using a curling iron

Gradates are well prepared to take the test to become licensed in Wisconsin.
