Are you interested in responding to emergencies that require urgent medical attention? As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic, you will be trained to assess the emergency, provide patient care that can save a life, and transport the patient to the hospital. You will learn how to respond quickly to high-level emergencies such as a motor vehicle accident, heart attack, near drowning, childbirth, poisoning, and life-threatening injury. You must be 18 years old for licensing; you will also be expected to complete five patient contacts. This specialized training is also conveniently offered at various off-campus locations throughout the district. The program is approved by the Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services because it uses the current Department of Transportation National Standard curriculum.
