Application Process

  • Obtain application from links to forms below or contact the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (see address and phone below).
  • Complete and return your application with a copy of a high school transcript or GED and a copy of driver's license or plan of travel.
  • Contact any WITC campus to complete the Accuplacer Assessment. Must score at 9th grade level or above. WITC requires a $30 assessment fee for all new apprenticeship students.  Contact WITC Student Services at 1.800.243.9482 - Rice Lake, New Richmond, Superior, or Ashland.

Apprenticeship Information

Work Description:

Bricklayers use brick, concrete blocks and stone to build walls, fireplaces and partitions. They spread mortar (wet cement) as a base to hold brick together.

Working Conditions:

Physically demanding work involving stooping, lifting, and standing for long periods of time, indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Physically capable of performing the trade.
  • Recommended high school courses: general math, algebra, geometry, shop courses, drafting, print reading, sciences, and English.

Terms of Apprenticeship:

  • 3 year program
  • 400 hours of related classroom instruction (paid)
  • Non-paid related instruction on own time to include first aid, welding, OSHA construction safety, and other courses.
  • First six months is the probationary period
  • Wage scale systematically increases throughout the apprenticeship.
