Accommodation Services will provide students equal access to an education at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC). To get you started it is important to learn and become familiar with the process.
Terms to Know
Advocacy: Speaking up for a person, idea or service.
As an adult we respect your privacy and decisions, so it is your responsibility to request accommodations. No accommodation will be provided without connecting with Accommodation Services. Remember, accommodations are not retro-active. Accommodations are only valid from the date the accommodation plan is developed with an Accommodation Specialist.
A Person With A Disability: An individual with a documented impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
WITC serves students with various types of disabilities including: attention deficit disorders, mobility and/or orthopedic disabilities, psychological disabilities, specific learning disabilities, speech and language disorders, visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, sensory disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and other health impairments.
Reasonable Accommodation: A change in the usual way of doing things.
Let us help you determine your options to have equal access at the post-secondary level and develop an action plan. A reasonable accommodation could be an adaptation, device or piece of technology that allows access to learning activities for a student with a disability.
