Early childhood special needs assistant working with a student

Early Childhood Special Needs Assistant

Early Childhood Special Needs Assistants work under a teacher’s supervision to give students additional attention and instruction to students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional and physical disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and assist with various subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with mild and moderate disabilities. They also assist in teaching basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities.

Program Director/Administrator

Preschool and childcare center directors supervise and lead staffs, design program plans, oversee daily activities and prepare budgets. They are responsible for all aspects of their center’s program.

Transfer Opportunities

After you complete your E-Connect - Child Care Services technical diploma at WITC, you can continue your education to obtain the Early Childhood Education associate degree and transfer your credits to another college to earn your bachelor's degree. 

Articulation Agreements

The Early Childhood Education/E-CHiLD program at WITC has articulation agreements with Ashford University+, Cardinal Stritch University+, Concordia University+, Lakeland University+, Northland College+, UW-La Crosse+, UW-Oshkosh+, UW-Milwaukee+, UW-Parkside+, UW-River Falls+, UW-Stevens Point+, UW-Stout+, UW-Superior+, UW-Whitewater+. 

The colleges listed above have developed an Associate Degree to Bachelor Degree Articulation Agreement with WITC (those with a + have an agreement related to the Early Childhood Education Program and/or similar programs such as Elementary Education and Human Development & Family Studies); other colleges may accept WITC credits upon a transcript review.
