As a teenager back in 1978, Lisa walked into a nursing home for the first time to visit a grandparent and never imagined she would enjoy a life-long and rewarding career in the field of gerontology. She is a strong advocate and resource for older adults and their families and brings 30 years of experience working in skilled nursing facilities, senior centers, and Aging & Disability Resource Centers. Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her job at the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County as the Dementia Care Specialist and to her students at WITC.
The goal of Lisa's teaching is to facilitate learning by helping students gain the necessary skills, knowledge and self-confidence to make a difference in their communities and the lives of older adults. Her education in the field of gerontology and years of experience has prepared her to be an effective instructor by creating a safe environment that is interactive and collaborative and promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys physical activities such as road biking, tennis, hiking, golf, snowshoeing, and anything cardio. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, knitting, sewing, doing house projects, and visiting wineries.
